Testimony and Call to the Ministry:

I was saved at Calvary Baptist Church in Vermont at age six. My family and I attended a Sunday evening service and pastor was preaching about heaven and also gave the plan of salvation. I did not understand everything right away and wanted to talk more with my family about it. The next day, I mentioned to my father the excitement I had in understanding more about salvation and heaven. That morning my father took me through many passages in the Bible and made sure I had all my questions answered. He had me answer questions, so that we both had assurance I understand the way of salvation. After our long discussion, I decided to pray on my own to accept Jesus Christ, the son of God, into my heart forever. I was so excited, that I told my father that I wanted to die right now, just so I could see Jesus and heaven. My father calmed me down however, and told me what I was supposed to do now that I was saved. He told me that I shouldn’t keep it to myself or die now, because how would other people find out the truth that I had now received. After hearing this, more applications of Scripture became clearer to me. I later got baptized in the same church I grew up in. I continued to grow spiritually in that church for many years until my family ended up moving to Virginia. In Virginia, we found a great church and I started attending youth group at 13. At age 17, I was contemplating a few careers. I had an interest in joining the Marine Cor. and was talking with the recruiter for a few months. But, the Lord was knocking on my heart’s door and I didn’t feel like that was where he wanted me. On a Wednesday night in April, there was a real touch on my heart to be in ministry. There had always been a love there, but it had been pushed to the side a little. That night it was clear that I was supposed to be in ministry, specifically youth ministry. It was like a light turned on and the Lord started opening and closing doors immediately. Ever since that night, I have had my heart set on Youth Ministry work. I had no doubt when I picked it as my major and I never thought about changing it either. All during my college career, I have worked with youth and have enjoyed every minute of it. I feel honored and privileged that the Lord’s will for me was to work with youth and I am very blessed ever since I have stayed the course.
